Let the sun shine in

Living here on the land is very interesting to say the least. Interactions are a minimum of 15 minutes, and always very informative and sincere. A walk to get the laundry can take you half an hour on average.

On a walk of the perimeter the other day, I found two old solar panels laying in the trash a.k.a. storage pile. You can imagine with what speed I picked them up. Of course asking the pertinent people if I could use them. After consulting with my partner in DIY crime, Aaron (he donated some needed hardware), we set up a proof of concept solar system. It needs some refinement and the light is just a single 3 watt LED, but it’s a start. Best of all it cost me $0.

Good Weeds # 1

So I’ve realised that there is way to much info to put on just one post. Here is the first instalment of Good Weeds….

On February 27, I went to an awesome Urban Forage Event ran by Nance Khelm. It took me a long time to post this because of issues I had that day, and research that had to be done.

I’m going to put info on “weeds” that Nance shared with us, and later when I’m done with those I’ll post info that comes my way on Good Weeds.

Also, I’m no Herbalist nor registered doctor. This is educational ONLY! If you want to try some of this stuff, consult what ever kind of authority you wish.

That being said…..

Regaining Control of The Meaning of Life

I love it when things in life just converge. That to me is a sure sign of being on your true path. As you might recall, I recently posted some very interesting information on Money. Simply, it puts money in it’s place as a societies agreed upon medium of energetic exchange. I again HIGHLY recommend watching the film and listening to the audio from that post.

This really got me thinking about the “consumer lifestyle” and what it means to live within a system that values the medium of exchange more than the exchange itself. I’m not going to preach about this or get much deeper into my feelings on the subject. Suffice it to say it shifted my awareness on the nature of the beast.

I first heard of Deborah Eden Tull a couple of years ago from a Whole Life Times article describing her journey and passions. Immediately I became aware that she was someone I would like to make contact with, but never got to it for one reason or another.

Fast forwarding to about a month ago… Erin was searching through the classifieds on Craigslist looking for some additional income. Diversify, diversify. There she stumbled upon a post from none other than Eden herself looking for interns to help her on her path and learn something in the mean time.

This is where the “Money Summit” comes into play. Had it not shifted my awareness on the money/exchange paradigm, I would have likely not even thought of taking on the responsibility without monetary incentive. Needless to say, I wrote an email within the hour requesting audience. We exchanged several emails and saw that the intern ship would be mutually beneficial. Now I’m on the next step towards the path, honing in on skills that will be needed later on and networking with some fantastic people. I feel blessed every time I think of how many wonderful and supportive people I’ve met in my life and can only hope to do the same for others.

P.S.
I still am working on the Urban Foraging workshop info and the Garden upgrade… It’s gonna be good ;-)

What’s this money thing all about?

I asked my self some questions a while back that got me researching currencies for a while now. What’s the point? How do they work? Who controls the flow? And several more…

Recently, thanks to Transition California I found some easy to understand and quite informative resources. The money fix is entertaining and best of all can be viewed for free. Also, recently there was a Healthy Money Summit held in cyber space. The twenty four speakers are all very well informed on the subject and offer views not often heard. They have been very gracious and made all the audio available to all, once again for free.

I like these because most things on the subject tend to be somewhat depressing and or conspiracy theorist. It’s not that they are not true, just that it might not be a good starting point if you’ve not read much on the subject. If you are interested, contact me and I’ll give you some more, ummm in depth stuff.
